| On Sunday evening, August 10th, 2003, a group of believers met in a home for Bible Study. It was there that a dream of a new church with a biblical, fresh, and outreach oriented vision began to grow. That evening around 40 people gathered together for fellowship and to study God's Word. It didn't take but one week to realize that this group of believers may need to meet in a larger facility. So, the next week, August 17th, we began meeting on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm in the Anniston City Meeting Center. The first few weeks of gathering included a great time of fellowship, and Bible Study led by Carlton Weathers. Excitement filled the room every Sunday night. The vision continued to become clearer about what God wanted to do in this area. On Wednesday night, September 3rd, 2003, a group of men met together to begin this journey we now call Grace Fellowship. Since then, this group of men continues to meet to bring this vision for a strong, biblical, people-oriented church into reality. On Wednesday night, September 10th, this core group of men agreed upon a name for this new work, Grace Fellowship. Sunday, October 12th, 2003, Grace Fellowship began it's Sunday morning services at 10:00 am as an "official" body of believers at the Meeting Center. The next milestone came when the Lord provided a church facility for us to lease near the Jacksonville community. On Sunday, March 7th, 2004, Grace Fellowship held its first worship service in the new facility, the former Fellowship Baptist Church located at 101 Lockette Drive just off of Hwy 21 near Jacksonville. That day 135 people gathered together for worship and fellowship. After several weeks of Bible study through the Membership Class, Connection Point, Sunday evening, April 4th, 2004, at 6:00 pm we gathered together to accept our very first group Grace Fellowship Community Church members. The Lord continues to bless the work that He began the fall of 2003. We are excited about discovering all He has in store for this family of faith in the future. |
